A new mum's smart tech idea making an impact to address critical nursing shortage

What Weebell does

Weebell is a Patented Smart Diaper Sensor designed to let carers know when it's time to change their loved ones' nappies through a visual queue of a blinking night light and a smartphone notification. Its ultra-lightweight design packs full of features and creature comforts to improve the quality of life of those in need of diapers.

The Current Landscape

According to the research conducted by the Australian Institute of Health, there are more adult diaper users than babies in today's scape. Furthermore, it takes over 200 years for just one diaper to break down in a landfill. Weebell's design intention is to provide a solution for both problem statements above by reducing the number of unnecessary diaper changes and overall usage, by providing caregivers insights into how heavily soiled the diaper is, using a combination of moisture and density detecting technology. With little to no competition in market, Weebell is a pioneer in its own kind - designed to protect the dignities of those who you love, and provide carers a peace of mind.

Company Birth Story

It was started when Monique, the founder and a new mum to an 11-months old, wanted to start a new business during her maternity leave away from her job in the corporate world. The design was created throughout her maternity leave along with a team of capable engineers and developers based in South Korea, and came to fruition with the brand officially launching in April 2024.

The Solution

The company's overall vision is to make a big impact by providing a small solution to a simple problem. There are critical nursing shortages we all know of within the industry, as well there are people who require ongoing care, people who are hearing impaired or have lost their sense of smell through side effects of COVID-19. Weebell is designed to assist with that. Weebell's patented technology detects 1/1000th of a moisture content of a diaper through its sensor nodes, which means it is able to let the carers know exactly how soiled the diaper is, as well as providing the ability to adjust sensitivity settings of notifications for a fully customised experience.

Since it's initial launch, Weebell's founder Monique has been selected as a finalist across 5 different categories for the 2024 Ausmumpreneur awards - Product Innovation, Business Innovation, One to Watch, People's Choice - Product & People's Choice - Emerging Entrepreneur.

A Customer Story

I never knew how busy I would become as a first time mum, looking after the bub daily and trying to keep on top of everything that comes with it! Housework, feeding, cooking, doing the dishes... the list never ends! Testing Weebell pre-launch has been fun and eye-opening journey for me. With the cute Cloud Light that gives me visual queues when it's time to change my little ones nappy, no more rashes, full nappies and certainly one less thing for me to worry about! Thanks Weebell! - Melissa, VIC
